Bolton Footwear Mechanical Engineer Internship Programme 2021

Description: Bolton Footwear has a 12 months Mechanical Engineer Internship Programme 2021 within their operations facility based in Elsies River, Cape Town. 

For this period the incumbent will form part of the operations team, work closely with the Production Manager as well as the Operations Executive , and as such will be required to provide assistance as detailed below.

Key areas of responsibility include:

  • Assist with improving productivity/efficiency by conducting time studies and reviewing factory performance reports.
  • Perform capacity utilization analysis and ensure that all resources are being used effectively
  • Support the Work-study department in conducting skill audits to identify scarce skills within the factory
  • In collaboration with the production team carry out analysis of quality issues and suggest corrective actions
  • Assist the Production Manager in eliminating or reducing waste in production and related processes
  • Provide technical knowledge in improvements, troubleshooting, repairs and equipment design
  • Adhoc projects as required

Requirements

  • National diploma/degree in mechanical/industrial engineering, or operations management
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite, Excel intermediate level
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to work in fast-paced, deadline driven, dynamic and changing environment
  • Ability to prepare standard reports/documentation to communicate results of  studies/analysis
  • Knowledge of manufacturing principles.

Remuneration: R4000 - R5000 per month 
Location: Cape Town
Education level: Diploma
