Equipment Maintenance

  • Conduct breakdown analysis on day-to-day basis, with a root cause mind-set on all plant utilities and production plant equipment to eliminate reoccurring failures.
  • Liaise with the maintenance planner to plan preventive maintenance activities aimed at increasing plant reliability.
  • Perform first line maintenance, repair of the physical plant, and pump stations and all of their components.
  • Recording of Process Parameters, Effluent level, Water levels in reservoirs and meter readings.
  • Assist with the installation of new projects and inspection of plant and utilities and first line services and or maintenance.
  • Assist in the performance of regular and unscheduled maintenance and repairs on all plant equipment and machinery.
  • Perform all work in conformance to Occupational Safety and Health Act regulations.
  • Maintain open communications with the leadership team to give regular feedback on plant reliability concerns.
  • Supervision of Contractors during servicing of plant utilities and production equipment.
  • Maintain good housekeeping across all plants ensuring food safety compliance as directed.
  • Daily engineering performance review and reports
  • Analysis of performance trends

Reporting

  • Equipment performance reports daily – breakdown Analysis
  • Consolidate weekly Pareto for production lines with details
  • Transformational project – innovation improvement

Continuous Improvement

  • Complete equipment adjustments in line with variations in the Service Water/Effluent material/specifications.
  • Complete continuous improvement initiatives on equipment set-up, performance and chemical usage rates to drive down costs
  • Optimisation of Boiler Operations to reduce fuel usages.
  • Drive start up and shut down procedures at your respective areas
  • Drafting and maintenance of all SOPs needed

Daily decisions without reference to manager

  • Conduct breakdown analysis for top 3 stoppages daily.
  • Housekeeping
  • Equipment maintenance
  • Reporting daily on out of specifications for all plant equipment.
  • Technical spares management

Key performance measures

  • Safety – Safe operation and adherence to safety procedures
  • Quality and Food Safety – proof of projects, maintenance, etc aimed at eliminating food safety risks
  • Breakdown Analysis – Daily at the engineering review
  • Planned Maintenance – clear planned maintenance tasks and timelines
  • Continuous improvement – Workplace Transformation

Qualifications/Requirements

Technical

  • Comprehensive knowledge of the methods, tools, and equipment used in the operation of Waste Water Treatment, Steam Generation, Compressed Air, Electrical Distribution and general Plant Equipment.

Safety

  • Thorough knowledge of current and accepted occupational safety and health practices and principles to include operation and maintenance of equipment.

Behaviour/Skill

  • The person should be a self-starter with innovative technical abilities.
  • The person has to have analytical abilities to resolve effluent process parameters variations.
  • The person must be a team player with ability to communicate precisely and engage different stakeholders.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum qualification of S4/N Dip in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering.
  • Very good in MS Excel, MS Word and PowerPoint.
  • Theoretical knowledge of operation and maintenance of equipment.
